Quick summary: Yarnaby is a fan-made Discord roleplay bot. We process messages in channels the Bot is added to only to generate replies, and we don't keep them afterward. We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We don't read DMs you don't send to the Bot. You can remove the Bot at any time to stop all processing.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Yarnaby ("the Bot", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you interact with the Bot inside Discord. By using the Bot, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Bot and ask a server administrator to remove it from any server you are in.

2. Information We Process

To operate, the Bot may process the following limited information:

Message content: Messages sent in channels where the Bot is active, processed in real time so the Bot can generate a roleplay response.
User IDs: Numeric Discord user IDs may be referenced to attribute a response or apply rate limits. We do not use real names, emails, or phone numbers.
Server (guild) IDs: Numeric Discord server IDs to manage where the Bot is installed and to apply per-server settings.
Channel IDs: Numeric Discord channel IDs so the Bot knows where to reply.
Basic command metadata: Which commands were used and when, used for debugging and abuse prevention.

We do not intentionally collect: your email address, your password, your IP address, your phone number, your real name, your location, or payment information. The Bot does not have access to such data through Discord.

3. How We Use Information

Information is used solely for the Bot's core functionality:

To generate roleplay and interactive responses in character as Yarnaby.
To maintain, debug, and improve the Bot's performance and features.
To enforce the Terms of Service and prevent abuse, spam, or harmful use.
To respond to support requests when you contact us.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training third-party machine-learning models without your consent.

4. Data Retention

The Bot processes messages in real time and does not retain message content long-term. Temporary, short-lived processing may occur in memory to generate a response, but no persistent logs of user messages are kept. Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics (for example, total command counts) and minimal operational logs (such as error traces) may be retained for a limited time for stability and abuse prevention. Server and channel IDs may be stored only as long as the Bot is installed.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties for marketing. Data may only be shared in the following limited cases:

With service providers strictly necessary to run the Bot (for example, hosting providers and language APIs), under confidentiality obligations.
When required by law, valid legal process, or to comply with Discord's rules.
To protect the rights, property, or safety of the Bot's operators, users, or the public.

6. Third-Party Services

The Bot runs on Discord and may rely on hosting providers and language APIs to function. These providers process data only to deliver the underlying service and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes. Your use of Discord is also subject to Discord's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which we encourage you to review.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data the Bot processes, including using secure connections, limiting access to operator accounts, and keeping our dependencies up to date. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights & Choices

You have control over your interactions with the Bot:

Stop using the Bot: Simply stop sending messages in channels where the Bot is active.
Leave the server: Leaving a server where the Bot is installed prevents further processing of your messages by the Bot.
Ask an admin to remove the Bot: Server administrators can remove the Bot at any time, which stops all processing in that server.
Request information or deletion: If you believe we hold any data linked to you, you may contact us to request information about it or its deletion, subject to legal limitations.

9. Children's Privacy

The Bot is not intended for children under the age of 13, in accordance with Discord's Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Bot, please contact us so we can take appropriate action, including removing the data where applicable.

10. International Users

The Bot may be operated from, and its limited data processed in, countries other than the one you live in. By using the Bot, you understand that such processing may occur. We aim to handle all information consistently with this Privacy Policy regardless of where processing takes place.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Bot, applicable law, or our practices. Continued use of the Bot after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last modified. Significant changes may be announced via the Bot's support server.
